IMPACT is in the infancy stage of the 2009 summer season, but each weekend seems to roll by faster than the previous one. The first three meets have proven to be as any track and field coach can appreciate - each sublimely different than the other. I am thankful for both the bad and the good showings because we learn with each type exactly what it will take to be successful in the next meet.
I would like to thank our wonderful parents for their dedication to, not only their own children, but to all of IMPACT's children! We are truly a TEAM! Our parents are like a village and we have come together to make the weekends competitively fun and comfortable. I was approached by so many people asking various questions about our program, but mostly just to compliment our student-athletes on their performances and their behavior ----- but most of the compliments for how wonderful that "organge and green" uniform looks. BIG UPS to Coach Terrence and team mom Leshia Jones for making me go with "orange and green" in the very first IMPACT meeting held a few years back,..... and a BIG THANKS to team mom, Janet Sloane, for her wonderful design and vision! You're the absolute SUPER MOM! Much love to Dessalyn for leading our snack team, Kisha, Karen, and Claudia for collecting team medals. I woudl be remiss if I didn't give a BIG shout out to Joyce Famble who make sure everything is in place behind the scenes. Thanks to you all!
Impactors , we have only just begun. We are off to a good start but our challenge has yet to come. As we approach district area, state, regional and nationals meets, I want to everyone to remain focused and optimistic. As our student-athletes continue to prepare their minds, bodies, and souls, let's REMEMBER THE VISION OF IMPACT - NOT JUST TO WIN - BUT TO DEVELOP STUDENT-ATHLETES!
REGISTRATION IS CLOSED
IATC appreciates everyone's endorsement of IMPACT's vision to "develop" the student-athlete, and while we would like to take on every child who would like to be a part of the team; we simply cannot take on anymore referrals. Also, we won't be able to train or practice with other athletes who ARE NOT a part of our team.
Currently, we have 5-6 of our student-athletes who will be returning from spring football and have also selected 3-4 to complete relays. We have exceeded our registration numbers. We hope that you honor and understand our request.
"I am a true believer that GOD drives the ship to where he wants us to go. HE knows I am thankful for the opportunity to work with as many children that HE sends to us. HE will reveal to me very soon why we had so many want to join us this year"

IN OUR PRAYERS .....
BUT COACH I REALLY DON'T LIKE ....
Many kids say these words “But coach I don’t even like that event” all to often…what does a coach do when these word come out of of an athetes mouth? Coach Dean Hebert of “The Running World According to Dean” has some pretty good advice and idead on just how to handle this all to common expression from athletes on your team I meet with comments to the effect of “Coach, I don’t like that event” from a number of runners. I understand that too. We all have our favorite races. Some of us just prefer running long and that marathon pain is just something we seem to cope well with. Others love the feeling of power and flying through a track race - 400, 800, 1500, 3000. Others yet like the pace and effort involved with that 5k-10k distance.
As I have outlined in the past, everyone is certainly “made” for different events both mentally and physically. This is not a bad thing at all. Having race preferences is not a bad thing either. In fact, it is quite beneficial because it create focus in training. The flip side of the coin is if we become too focused on solely doing our favorite event we never develop into the best runner we can possibly be. Therefore, our strengths indeed becomes our weaknesses if that is all we focus on. Read More
